A little SoCal.....

We returned last evening from a 10 day jaunt to Southern California.

...thought a little Mickey would be good tonic for the ails of our times.......

Spent our time in Disney, as well as San Diego (at the great zoo)

....... as well a little hang time at Surf City - Huntington Beach.

Of course we were met with typical Souther Cal weather.

However this time was a little different. By the last day of our 10 we were literally surrounded by fire and water....our last Saturday in town was a bit surreal; it was 'snowing ash' over Disneyland. The sun was an eerie, hazy, orange-ball behind a dark, dangerous looking cloud.

With million dollar homes as well as more modest abodes being eaten by a voracious enemy just a few kilometers away, we strolled down main street with early season Christmas music playing and the sights and smells of Disney enveloping us.....

Talking to people who live in the US, there is a hint of optimism in their words. It feels like there may be a new time dawning....it seems many are hoping for the change promised from the new White House. A guarded optimism pervades their words. Let's hope they are right......

More to come on the outstanding service from some of the businesses we dealt with in SoCal.....

....oh and Happy 70th B day Gordon Lightfoot..... Song for a Winter's Night.
