Changes to our education system in Langley...?
The past week in Langley has shown this writer a couple of things about the people who live in this community:
1. Parents in this community are passionate about the welfare of their children and hold the education of those children with the highest regard.
2. Are willing to ask tough questions and are able to see through the politico-speak......
After sitting through a number of very emotional meetings this writer will reflect on:
- overall (disregarding what some local editorial boards at the local papers have written) the respect from most audience members was shown to the board. If groans and laughter from the audience is disrespecful then yes there was a lot of that.....justified?..... one could debate.
Of course there were those whose passion may have overwhelmed them (passion should be expected when changes are made without concrete answers regarding budget and implementation, et al), however the majority of speakers were professional intelligent and passionate. Kudos to the future generation.....the students, the most impacted, showed poise and maturity.
3. The elections here in Langley, November of 2008 will be very interesting.
